Karima Karkori (she/her) is a Director and Creative based in Brooklyn, New York.

Karima recently assistant directed Once Upon a Mattress on Broadway and produced the international debut of All Things Considered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She will soon serve as Associate Director for the world premiere of The Reservoir.

Additionally, she was the inaugural Directing Apprentice for the New York City Encores! 2023 season, working on Dear World, Oliver!, and Light in the Piazza. Karima produced the short film JUNE, which premiered at LA Shorts and was featured in over a dozen festivals. She also served as Associate Director for the NYC workshop of Like Father and has worked at institutions like the American Conservatory Theatre, Goodspeed Opera House, Geffen Playhouse, New York City Center, and UCLA. Additionally, she leads Social Media and Marketing for Locket, Apple’s 2022 App of the Year.

Karima spent her early career training as a performer and director at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. During this formative time, she honed her skills and cultivated a deep appreciation for the transformative power of storytelling. She received her B.A. from UCLA, where she co-founded and artistically directed a new theatre company for original works, Untitled Theatre Company. Karima was the recipient of the UCLA Optimist Scholarship and Horatio Alger State Scholarship.

An artistic multi-hyphenate, Karima's passions traverse a diverse spectrum encompassing theater, digital media, and visual art. However, at the core of every endeavor beats her unwavering commitment to accessibility and inclusiveness. Her identity as a first-generation artist deeply informs her mission to create spaces where underrepresented voices are not only included - but amplified and celebrated. Through her work, she strives to empower individuals who have historically been marginalized within the artistic landscape and to do it right.
